What driving licenses are accepted?
We can approve driving licenses from all over the world. Please note that some foreign driving licenses may require an International Driving Permit (IDP).
Do I need a Scandinavian ID to use Hyre?
If you are a resident of Norway, Denmark, or Sweden, a national ID (BankID or MitID) is required. Foreign users who are not eligible for BankID/MitID can register using their driving license and an ID document, such as a passport.
How does the credit check work?
We conduct a credit check for all new Hyre account holders as part of the registration process. This ensures that our customers are creditworthy and helps us maintain high-quality service.
Where is Hyre available?
Hyre operates in Stockholm, Sweden, and in Oslo, Bergen, and Trondheim, Norway.
How do I get the car key?
You unlock the car using your smartphone. The app connects to the car via Bluetooth, and you simply press a button to unlock it.
What is the age requirement for renting a car from Hyre?
You must be at least 18 years old to rent a car from Hyre. If the driver is under 25 years old, the deductible is 1,000 SEK higher. This does not apply if the driver has added a deductible reduction.
What booking types does Hyre offer?
Select "Drop-in" to start a booking immediately. The car is reserved to you for up to 24 hours, but you only pay for the time you have the car. With "Schedule" you can pre-order how long you want the car in advance, can rent for hours or weeks, and you pay for the entire period you book. The car is always returned to its permanent parking space.
How do I rent a car?
You have two options in the app: ‘Drop-in’ or ‘Schedule’
- Drop-in: If you need a car immediately, this option shows available nearby cars for up to 24 hours. You only pay for the time you use the car.
- Schedule: Book a car in advance by selecting pickup and return times. Choose your desired car from the map and confirm your reservation.
How do I cancel a car?

How does damage control work?
You must submit photos of the car before accessing it and before returning it. These photos ensure the car is in the same condition when you return it. You can take as many photos as you need during the rental period.
Can I bring pets in the car?
Pets are only allowed in the Skoda Karoq due to allergy concerns. Your pet must be in a nylon carrier in the trunk, and you are responsible for its safety. Ensure the car is clean after use.
I have trouble connecting to the car.
Ensure Bluetooth and location services are enabled. If it still doesn’t work, contact us at 077-575 76 00.
I can't start the car.
It might be due to the immobilizer. Try unlocking the car again, make sure it's in "Park," and press the brake pedal.
What if I lose my phone or the battery dies?
Try using another phone and log in with your BankID. If that's not an option, contact us at 077-575 76 00 for assistance.

Can I add more drivers?
Yes, you can add multiple drivers for free. Go to the booking screen and select 'Register Extra Driver.' Additional drivers must have a Hyre account and a valid driving license.
Where can I park the car?
You can park anywhere, but you're responsible for any parking fees or fines. You can park for free at Hyre-designated spots during the rental.
Users bear sole responsibility for removing our vehicles from their personal parking applications if they have added them. Hyre does not provide refunds for any charges incurred due to users forgetting to remove a vehicle from their private parking app.
What if I return the car late?
Try extending the rental period in the app. If not possible, someone else has already booked the car, and you must contact us via chat or phone at 077-575 76 00.
Do I need to clean the car before returning it?
Please return the car in the same condition you found it. Clean the interior, and if the exterior is excessively dirty, we encourage you to wash it.
Where should I return the car?
The car must be returned to the designated parking spot as shown in the app. If the car was improperly parked when you picked it up, do not return it to the same spot. You will be responsible for any parking violations.
When will I get my deposit back?
The deposit is refunded once the car is returned and costs like fuel/tolls and extra kilometers are charged. You’ll receive the remaining deposit within 5-10 business days.
I have a negative amount in my cost summary. What does this mean?
A negative balance means you will receive a voucher to use for a future rental.
What does the insurance cover?

What is included in the rental price?
The rental price includes insurance coverage and up to 150 kilometers of driving distance per day. The total kilometers driven are accumulated, and you are free to distribute these kilometers throughout the rental period. Fuel, tolls, and any excess kilometers are additional costs.
Do I need to register tolls?
No. Tolls are automatically registered and added to the rental cost.
Do I need to return the car with a full tank?
We encourage our customers to return the car with a full tank. We calculate the amount of fuel in the tank before and after the rental period. If the car is returned with less fuel than at pickup, a price per litre will be charged. If you return the car with more fuel, you will receive a refund per litre.
The discount is the difference between what you paid for the fuel at the station and what Hyre reimburses.
Current fuel prices can be seen in the app when you make your booking. If the refund exceeds the rental price, you will receive a discount voucher for future use when you book with Hyre.
